Western 649 is a game that is only available in Western Canada. It's very similar to Lotto 6/49 but it doesn't cost as much to take part. There are still seven ways to win a prize, while the jackpot is fixed at $2 million in every draw.
How to Play Western 649
To play Western 649, you'll need to use a Lotto 6/49 selection slip or just speak to the retailer directly. There is no separate play slip for Western 649.
If you're filling out a slip, select the box for Western 649 to play this game on its own. Choose six numbers from 1 to 49 in the first play grid, then move on to the next if you wish to submit multiple sets of numbers. You can play up to six selections on one slip.
It costs just $1 per play to take part in Western 649. You can also play Extra for an additional $1 per number. If you are entering Western 649 alongside Lotto 6/49, the easiest thing to do is mark the 'Play Both' option and you will automatically receive the same number selections for both.
You can opt for a Quick Pick if you'd prefer to have random numbers generated on your behalf. Play up to 25 consecutive draws in advance by marking the relevant box on your slip or letting the retailer know.
To be entered into the next draw, you'll need to get your tickets in by 9:30pm Central Time (8:30pm Mountain Time/7:30pm Pacific Time) on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
How to Win Western 649
To win the Western 649 jackpot, you need to match all six of the main numbers drawn. The jackpot is set at $2 million and does not grow if nobody wins. If there are multiple winners, it is shared between all the lucky players.
The second prize, for matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, is worth $50,000 and is also shared if there are multiple winners. The remaining prizes are all fixed regardless of the number of winners, so you know exactly how much you can expect to receive.
Just like Lotto 6/49, you must match at least two main numbers to win a prize. The following table shows all the different prize categories and the odds of winning for each one.
