About the Western Canada Lottery
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), founded in 1974, operates in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon. It is dedicated to raising funds for good causes in the Prairies and Territories, with around a third (33.1 percent) of the money spent on lottery games going back to the community to deliver economic and social benefits.
More than half of the revenue goes towards prizes, and Western Canada Lottery players win great prizes every single day. The biggest prizes are offered in the national games - Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max and Daily Grand, which the WCLC administers in Western Canada as part of the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC).
Among Western Canada's biggest-ever winners are Tai Trinh from Calgary, who broke the record for Alberta's top win when he landed $65 million on Lotto Max in October 2019. The Chua family became Manitoba's record winners when they grabbed a $60 million Lotto Max jackpot in January 2021. Back in October 2005, a group of 17 oil and gas workers from Camrose in Alberta picked up $54.3 million on Lotto 6/49, making them the biggest lottery winners anywhere in Canada at the time.
